Susan Natale **
As a visual artist and sculptor, mixed media assemblage is a great way to document the stories we must tell. My work tells eternal stories filtered by contemporary culture. I re-purpose personal archives, found objects, and acquisitions to create visual narratives with a social conscience. A foundation in painting maintains my framework and passion for color and composition. For a while, I used the front half of a large storage unit as my studio. I painted there, enjoying climate control, clean restrooms, CNN and coffee. From that unit, I participated in Open House New York and had showings of my 9/11 series and other work. The long white hallways became my gallery. Although I now maintain a private studio, storage is still important to my work. My collections remain a source of both inspiration and material.
