Barbara Burger **

Art has always been central to my life. As a child, I loved to draw and paint. In grade school, at age 10, I was chosen to illustrate a journal called ’The School Bell.’ When I was in 8th grade, I was selected to   illustrate the cover of our school graduation program. I am largely self-taught, but in my twenties I took a few weekend courses at the Art Student’s League. Isaac Soyer was my favorite teacher, who admired my style and encouraged me. My work was accepted into Hirschl and Adler in 1973-74.  And in 1980, I was selected for a major exhibit,'The Artist in the Park’, in which I was one of two living artists. Since then, my work has appeared in numerous exhibits and in various galleries.
