Filling his works with layers of detail, Chris Reeves transforms recognizable imagery into a visual spectacle in which he responds to the evolution of racism throughout history, asking, “Have we truly evolved?” Using both audio and video repetition,  Reeves eliminates the hush, opening the doors of communication around a subject that society has kept hidden. “Nigger—that word alone stimulates emotion.” Don't get him wrong; he’s not attempting to desensitize the word. He is in fact doing just the opposite—sensitizing his audience to what is considered the most offensive word in the English language. "I want the word, nigger, to be just a word. I want to show the audience visuals that are true. I'm not trying to provoke. I'm putting it out there to project."
